Strikeforce Capitalizes

Strikeforce capitalizes on the fall of ElitXC! Strikeforce was smart enough to sign forty of Elite XC's former fighters after they went bankrupt. Strikeforce is based in San Jose, CA and is the only mma organization in San Jose. Strikforce is one of the few mma organizations to make it out of the "dust" and enter the top of the pack with only the UFC in front of them. Strikeforce has taken a slow, cautious ride to the top, but the wait was well worth it.

Strikeforce signed a handful of the world's top mma fighters broadening the talent in Strikeforce. The new elite fighters added to Strikeforce's payroll will definitely make an immediate impact on the success of Strikforce, as well as, the growth of the sports.

Strikeforce holds most of their events at the HP Pavilion, where the San Josee Sharks play. Their next event will be on April 11 and the main event will be UFC veteran Frank Shamrock vs. UFC and Pride veteran Nick Diaz. They will be fighting at a catch weight of 179 lbs. The co main event will be Scott Smith vs Benji Radach, both fighters known for their brutal strength and knock out power. San Francisco's own Gilbert Melendez will fight Ishida, who served Melendez his first loss a year ago.

Strikeforce is based in San Jose, CA, so please support Strikeforce and attend or watch all of their events. They will be airing their fights on Showtime and will be running a series called "Young Guns" on NBC. Check out http://www.strikeforce.com/ for more information.

UFC Fight Night 17

Just one day away from UFC Fight Night 17. Tomorrow will be a night full of non-stop action as up and coming star Joe Lauzon takes on heavy handed Jeremy Stephens. Jeremy Stephens is a late replacement for fellow UFC veteran Hermes Franca. Franca was sidelined just two weeks ago with a hamstring injury. Stephens stepped up with only two weeks notice to take on a fight that could launch him into the top of the heap of the UFC's lightweight division. The winner has everything to gain, yet the loser will fall back down the ladder of the lightweight division.
The co-main event is between UFC reality star Mac Danzig vs. Josh Neer. Mac Danzig is a phenomenal wrestler with great jui-jitsu skills. His opponent Josh Neer is a hard hitting lightweight, nick named the "Dentist" because he has been know to knock out his opponent's teeth. This fight will be exciting and full of suspense, so don't blink!

The other two fight that will air on the nights main card will include San Jose's own Cain Velasquez who takes on Denis Stojnic. This fight will be quick! Two heavy handed fighters with something to prove. Should be fireworks. In the last televised card Anthony Johnson, who is a San Jose resident as well, takes on Luigi Fioravanti. Luigi is an ex-Marine with exceptional jui-jitsu. If Anthony can keep this fight on his feet he should be able to KO Luigi, but if Luigi takes Anthony to the ground, then it will be lights out for Anthony.

UFC Fight Night 17 starts at 7:00 p.m. live on Spike TV.

Challenges and opportunities for bloggers

I am going to be blogging about mixed martial arts over the next few months. I want to promote mma through this blog by updating fans with new information. This blog gives me the opportunity to inform fans, as well as, people who do not understand this sport or have never heard of mma before on mma related news.
