New MMA gym opens in Los Gatos

Finally,a new mma facility in the south bay. Alexander Oxendine, a 25 year mix martial arts vet has opened a new mma studio in Los Gatos, CA. Alexander trained with B.J. Penn, who is the lightweight champion for the UFC, and Randy Couture, a mma legend, throughout his career. Alexander teaches not only mma, but also cardio classes. This is a great chance for "newbies" to join a team that just opened on March 14th.

I know for sure I am going to check out the classes because I am looking for a gym and I dont want to pay more than $100 a month. Every other gym in San Jose is a minimum $150. Also this gym would be great for me to ease my way back into the sport. I wouldn't be as intimidated because most people will be new.

Check out the gym: Los Gatos MMA located on 15445 Los Gatos Blvd behind McDonalds inside Anastasia's club fit.Hope to see you there.

On March 12, Charles Lewis Jr., a.k.a. "Mask" in the mma world died in a car crash. CHP officer said he saw two cars racing near Manhattan beach in L.A. in the late night. Mask was driving a Ferrari and had a 23 yr. old lady in the car with him. The other car also had two people in it. Apparently the other car driving lost control and hit Mask's Ferrari causing him to hit a poll which split the Ferrari in half. The 23 yr. old was ejected and only suffered minor injuries. However, Mask was trapped in the car and died on impact. The other driver tried to flee the scene but was later apprehended and is now facing 19 yrs. in prison for a variety of charges. His passenger was not hurt nor went to jail.

Mask is best known for his crazy character he portrays on his TV show, Tapout. Mask and his crew would go around looking for the next big star that they could promote. He was into helping as many people as he could. Mask created Tapout clothing in 1997, in the trunk of his car. He would go to small shows and sell his clothes. He started his clothing line with a few thousand dollars and made around $30,000 his first year. Now 12 years later his company grossed 100,000,000 dollars and is said to be worth around 500,000,000 dollars. Mask will be missed and he touch tons of peoples life, positively.

UFC 96

Last night was a night to remember! In the main event of the night Rampage defeats Jardine in a tough battle between two high ranked competitors. Rampage was just too much for Jardine in all aspects of the game. Rampage beats jardine by unanimous decision. Now Rampage fights the light heavyweight champ, Rashad Evans. This fight will take place in the next few months and will most definitley be a fight for the ages!

Matt Hammil threw a viscious left round house kick to UFC newcomer, ending his night quick. Matt Hammil earned K.O. of the night, deservingly so. Kendal Grove is also back on the winning track by defeating Jason Day via K.O. in the first round. Also Branden Vera earned a TKO stoppage via leg kicks, which also put him back on the winning tracks.

UFC 96 may not have been too hyped up because there was no championship fights nor were there any super star names, besides rampage, but the night will not be forgotten. Tons of action and great fights across the board. UFC puts together another stunning show!
